Entry #2: Reduce Fixed Overhead by Outsourcing

Most companies are continuously looking for ways to cut fixed operating costs and improve profitability. But many small businesses ignore evaluating money spent on non-core business functions.

That’s where outsourcing comes into play.  Do you have an IT person on staff? Why not consider finding an SBE providing that function and outsource it to them instead? Have them hire your IT employee, as they’d really benefit from working for an IT-centric Company.  You’ll save some money, get access to greater knowledge, reduce computer-related downtime and get better service.

Consultants are precisely what you need to improve your bottom line as they require less of your resources to administer programs and solve operating problems.  In the Security Industry, my industry, outsourcing security to a consulting company allows customers to have the latest industry knowledge at their disposal, as well as allow them to save by not having the long term costs associated with employees. Along with a better quality service, our clients often show savings in excess of 40%.

Outsourcing is an excellent way to cut fixed operating costs during a bad economy.

I work in an industry that uses consultants and I completely agree with this. The company I work for has seen significant savings and benefits from using consultants in a wide variety of positions.

Absolutely agree! I wish more companies would see this benefit and use consultants! Consultants are a great use of a companies resources especially when they do not need someone full time for a project. In the security industry I can see where this would be a huge benefit. Thanks for writing this article. Hope others will see as well. Also checked out your website and see you have a great selection of services and products that everyone from individuals to large companies should look in to purchasing. I know I certainly will be reviewing my security needs after reading your site/materials.
