The Winner of the March 2013 Supplier Spotlight Contest is…

This month’s contest, just like the weather, has been unpredictable.  Last month we had the most activity (in votes & views) ever… and although this month ranks as the 7th best ever, was far more modest.  A short question:  Do you click through on our LinkedIn updates & tweets about the contest?  Is that how you usually go about voting?

The Big Winner this month–in a wire-to-wire victory–is… “Give 2 Receive” from Summer Alexander, who is the CEO at Summer Alexander Research.  As you can see, her entry held a commanding lead throughout the contest, and I think that’s because it carries substantial weight in an economy like this one:  We’ve got to find meaningful & creative ways to not only get from paycheck to paycheck, but to cement new business relationships, too.  So think: What are the non-traditional areas you can take your knowledge to–and how can you leverage it to create new business?  You can read her entry right here.

Special Thanks to all the other contestants from 2B Solutions, Inc. , ADRA Change Architects, & The Leadership Source for giving it their best shot, & their best re-tweets!

This contest is sponsored by Supplier-Connection, an initiative where 20 members have committed to connect U.S.-based SBEs to their supply chains. Registration is open to all U.S. Small Business Enterprises.

NEW POST on The SBE Lifer: “And Now for Today’s Forecast…
My aim for The SBE Lifer, as they say, is true.  I want it to be a place where SBEs can head-off some of the learning curve–where every SBE owner can go to get simply-stated honest advice about the myriad challenges of running an SBE.  So please, think of The SBE Lifer not as a series of dispatches, but as a committed resource to helping You.

So with that in mind, read And Now for Today’s Forecast“, which is all about learning how to develop sober sales forecasts for your SBE.

“Interviews With Experts” on The SBE Lifer
This is still the hottest feature on The SBE Lifer–keep those RTs & Comments coming!  But, now that we’ve posted 5 great interviews with leading experts in the Social Media field (like Mike Stelzner@Tweetsmarter, & Jason Falls), we’re changing focus:  The next interviews to premiere will be with experts in procuring Government contracts & Outsourcing–2 areas I know most SBEs are interested in (Do you have any Expert you’d like to see me interview?  Let me know!)

So in short: Stay tuned to Interviews With Experts.

Another new feature that’s been getting a lot of good feedback is The SBE Journal where I chronicle my experience running an SBE for the first time since 2008! Check it out and let me know what you think!

About Dan Gallo

I'm a lifelong entrepreneur, starting/running businesses since I sold seeds door-to-door when I was 7 in The Bronx. I've been playing guitar and enjoying the game of baseball since I was 5 (born a NY Yankees fan). I married Kim in 1983 & we have two sons; Daniel's a real smart, insightful & well read musician (www.thefieldrecordings.com) and Adam is a brilliant senior @ Brooklyn College double majoring in creative writing/literature & anthropology. Since 2002, one of the things we love to do together is go on service & missions trips to Belize. We've collectively spent over 60 weeks in Belize & I serve on the Board for the missions organization (www.twaw.org) focused on Belize. I started my 1st company in January 1985, and other than selling a company in 1999 and running it for a multi-billion dollar company for 2 years before buying it back, I've been self-employed. I sold my last company, Mentor Communications Group, in 2004 and after 2 years with the acquiring company I left and started The Allasso Group, LLC doing Sales Strategy & Business Development, Marketing Communications, Social Media since April 2006. Although I'm still contracted by Supplier-Connection as their Small Business Advocate, I recently was contracted to run a software company http://myvrm.com. I enjoy consulting, but it's really great to be running an SBE again.
