The Winner of the February 2013 Supplier Spotlight Contest is…

February–a month that gets the short end of the stick, usually (it’s still winter, a groundhog can ruin the next month of your life)–is now the record holder for Most Votes & Most Views in a Single Day!  Over 525 votes in this month’s contest! 1,347 page views on the final day of voting!

And so, it is with a proud father’s swollen heart that I say Thank You, as always, to all the contestants & all the viewers & voters for taking the time to participate. This contest runs solely on our collective spirit, and I couldn’t be happier for all of us in the SBE community.

The Big Winner this month is… “4 Benefits of eLearning” from Stephen Sequeira, who is the Founder & CEO at Perfect Resources LLC.  As you can see, the contest was only won by 21 votes–and I think the reason is twofold: 1. The top two entrants are masterful at leveraging social media & direct marketing. They drove hundreds of people to the contest blog on their behalf (~600 site views in the final 3 hours alone!), and 2. Both entries aim to solve problems that have always been expensive (and risky) to SBEs: the amount of time spent and the effectiveness of sales “cold” calls, and the high cost of training employees.  I mean, if you could keep making good employees better without paying for time away from work, wouldn’t you?  You can read the entry right here.

This has easily been the hottest feature on The SBE Lifer lately–keep those RTs & Comments coming!  But, now that we’ve posted 5 great interviews with leading experts in the Social Media field (like Mike Stelzner, @Tweetsmarter, & Jason Falls), we’re changing focus:  The next interviews to premiere will be with experts in procuring Government contracts & Outsourcing–2 areas I know most SBEs are interested in.

I'm a lifelong entrepreneur, starting/running businesses since I sold seeds door-to-door when I was 7 in The Bronx. I started my 1st company in January 1985, and other than selling a company in 1999 and running it for a multi-billion dollar company for 2 years before buying it back, I've been self-employed. I sold my last company, Mentor Communications Group, in 2004 and after 2 years with the acquiring company I left and started The Allasso Group, LLC doing Sales Strategy & Business Development, Marketing Communications, Social Media since April 2006. Although I'm still contracted by Supplier-Connection as their Small Business Advocate, I recently was contracted to run a software company http://myvrm.com.
